Whew - what a weekend

Friday evening as I'm sure you know was the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. We live just across the Park from the Olympic Stadium and as well as watching the cermony on TV we felt the 1000 drummers rock the street. The sheer displacement of air was enough to get us out the door and into the street to see what was happening. The spectacle on TV was awesome. Wish we could have got seats for the live event. So it was a late night for us as we only headed off to bed when Sir Paul sang 'Hey Jude'. We especially liked the glowing doves on bikes only I thought they looked more like Cockney sparrows.

Saturday was the first time we have had a stall at the Wonder Hill Market which is a small Pop-up style market for handmade in the UK crafts and vintage goods near London Bridge on the South side of the Thames.
Here is a picture of 'my lovely assistant' Maggi behind our smallish table. We could only fit about half the goods we took with us onto the small table without it looking overloaded.  It was so quiet. Everyone there said they had never known the market so slow. London was a bit like a ghost town this weekend. People must be heeding the warnings to stay away during the Olympics.
We managed to sell a couple of small things and met some nice people so it wasnt a complete waste of time. Dont know if they'll let us go back and do it again tho, we are rather loud and proud. Thanks to our friends for 'dropping by' to encourage us. You made the day special.

Sunday was the London Polymer Clay Group's July Clay day and the group's AGM. With officers duly elected and a good plan of action we are in good shape to move forward into our 6th year. I have been a member for over 2 years now and its been really good fun and educational too.:) Sunday was a blast although I was so exhausted I'm sure by the end of the afternoon I was talking Klingon. Big apologies to all my clay friends. It was great to see you.

I have a week off work now and will hopefully find some time to move on with my metal work and Polymer clay projects as well as starting the prep for the next LPCG day in September when I will be giving a demonstration and the Open House in October (More about that soon).
Other things planned for the coming week are a badly needed haircut, a relaxing Polymer fun session with a friend, a jewellery photo session (the online shop is looking empty), a shopping trip to Hatton Garden and take some pieces into the Assay Office for Hallmarking , a Jewellery Design 1 day course at the London Jewellery School. Whew I'll need another week off to recover.
Have a good week

Fish pond cuffs more pictures

Here are a couple of slightly better pics of the fish pond cuff bracelets using Pardo transparent clay. The first picture shows the cuff where the fish were stamped directly onto the aluminium cuff blank and just a thin layer of tranparent Pardo was used above them with slices of the metal leaf swirly cane added to the surface. The aluminium came through the ends of the cuff when I sanded it as the base layer of transparent was so thin (#6 on my Altas PM).

This cuff is the one with thicker transparent clay mixed with a little green Premo and the ends of the cuffs have a heavier layer of flower cane slices as seen in the next picture.

The aluminium did not show through on this one. Somewhere between the 2 is the perfect cuff. :)
